VHB acrylic adhesive

For over 20 years, 3M has revolutionised permanent fastening by introducing new high-strength VHB™ tapes and has since expanded its application expertise across all market segments. The range of products offered has expanded considerably over the years and now offers a solution to meet the requirements of even the most challenging applications (resistance to high temperatures, bonding of low surface energy plastics, powder-coated products, etc.).

Compared to traditional fasteners, VHB™ high-strength double-sided tapes not only improve aesthetics but also offer greater resistance to corrosion and outdoor environments. Invisible bonding is essential in cases where aesthetic characteristics or a particular design must be respected, but these products are now widely used in many sectors, from electronics to mechanics, from transport to construction, as their technical characteristics improve the quality of the final product.

By eliminating drilling, welding and finishing operations, thinner materials can be used for assembly without the risk of deformation or distortion. Different materials can also be assembled, as the elasticity of VHB™ double-sided adhesive tapes compensates for different expansions due to temperature changes and, by flowing into the microporosity of the surfaces, they also provide an excellent sealing function. Their viscoelastic properties dampen vibrations and distribute stress over the entire adhesive area, thus providing high resistance to both static and dynamic loads. The possibility of die-cutting the product to the customer’s design also facilitates application, significantly reducing production time and, consequently, costs.

In addition to the classic assembly of panels, frames, decorations or profiles, VHB™ double-sided adhesive tapes are now also widely used in the fixing of cable ducts on electrical panels or in the assembly of flexible circuits, flat cables, LCD displays or heat sinks in electronic boards.
