Scotch Weld anaerobic Adhesives

Anaerobic adhesives are single-component, solvent-free adhesives with an anaerobic reaction, composed of special liquid resins that harden in the absence of oxygen and through the catalytic influence of metals to initiate polymerisation.

After polymerisation, they transform into a thermoplastic resin (this must be taken into account when designing a joint) and allow complete filling of the joint, ensuring uniform transmission of stresses and vibrations.

Anaerobic adhesives are usually used in industry, mainly in the vehicle and automotive sectors. They are only used with metal parts to be joined together, because it is the metal that acts as a catalyst, activating the hardening process.

The typical applications of these products are essentially:

1. braking of threaded parts;
2. sealing of flanges and threaded fittings;
3. locking of coaxials.

The general characteristics of single-component anaerobic adhesives are:

1. ease of application, both in liquid and paste form;
2. polymerisation at room temperature;
3. wide range for different strength requirements;
4. easily automated dosing;
5. non-flammable;
6. solvent-free.
