3M 2214 HT/NF general purpose epoxy adhesive for applications on aluminium, where high strength bonds are required that must withstand temperatures between 53°C and 121°C. 3M™ Scotch Weld™ 2214 Hi Density epoxy adhesive produces extremely dense, air bubble-free beads. Both of these epoxy adhesives can be applied with spatulas or automatic equipment to meet specific production requirements. Recommended applications: bonding metals, especially when high temperature resistance is required. Epoxy adhesives are part of the family of adhesives called ‘structural’, which includes polyurethanes, acrylics, cyanoacrylates and other types of adhesives. Epoxies are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical reaction when mixed and then polymerise to form a structural bond. Once the two parts are mixed in the specified ratio, they begin the polymerisation process and offer a limited working time, during which the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as required.
This open time lasts from a few minutes to several hours. These structural adhesives offer high shear and peel strength, depending on the formula, and better resistance to heat and chemicals than other common adhesives. In general, epoxy adhesives have the highest overall strength, offer the best performance and maximum resistance to high temperatures, solvents and external atmospheric agents.
